When I first contacted Mike Butcher a few years back he was genuinely surprised that anyone was interested in records he made 30+ years ago. Well, interest was at a peak last night when a copy of the insanely rare Feather single Stupid Girl broke the £200 mark. The same seller also cleaned up with German pressings of both Jet Staxx singles, I'm Gonna Be The Best Guy and French Girls. Where does Vanya find all this shit?

NEW WAVE SINGLES PRICE GUIDE

This dates from 1991 and was probably the first attempt by anyone to put a value on punk era singles in book format. Compiled by Neil Perry who together with his wife runs Foggy Notion Records mail order. Nice people, who I've found to be quick to respond and send out orders. Fair prices too.

The info in this A4 128 page book is pretty basic as you can see if you click on the sample page above, with some of the details abbreviated to fit the allocated space. Still, it served as a nice reference at the time. Neil Perry later published another price guide which I don't have.

Does anyone still buy the Record Collector RRPG book? Do they still consider Tearaway by The Jets to be not worthy of inclusion and is the only Pumphouse Gang single listed the one that's least collectable?
