THE VALVES - Regent Sound Studios

Regent Sound Studios, London, 18th December 1978.

01 - It Don't Mean Nothing At All
02 - Radios
03 - Anytime
04 - Walk Don't Walk
05 - Haircuts From Mars

Dee Robertson - vocals, Ronnie MacKinnon - guitar, Gordon Scott - bass, Teddy Dair - drums.

Edinburgh punk legends The Valves cut two singles for Bruce Findlay's Zoom label in later part of 1977. By August the following year their contract with Zoom had expired and since Findlay had done little for the band in the previous six months, The Valves decided to look at other options.

Local promoters Regular Music used their contacts to help the band book a tour of London in September of 1978. Reviews and audience reaction was mostly positive and two months later they were back in London to sign a publishing deal with Albion Music and record some demos at Regent Sound Studios.

The Valves were hoping that the recordings would generate some major label interest. In the end Albion released a new arrangement of 'It Don't Mean Nothing At All' themselves. Shortly after The Valves would split up.

Steve and Billy reformed The Androids towards the end of 1978, recruiting Jim Megarry (vocals) and Robin Holmes (bass). This line-up recorded two tracks for a Good Vibrations compilation LP which was never released. One of the tracks 'Bondage In Belfast' later appeared on the 'Good Vibrations Punk Singles Collection' CD on Anagram Records.
